About The SOUTHFIELD COLLEGIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE
About the SCBL
The Southfield Collegiate Baseball League (SCBL) is the premier collegiate baseball league for current collegiate athletes from the greater Detroit Metropolitan area. Sign up starts on May 1st and closes on June 1st. There will be limited spaces available, so don’t wait.
We will play 3 pre-season exhibition games against the Royal Oak Leprechauns on May 31st, June 1st and 2nd. All SCBL Players will be eligible for this series. Let us know if you will be available during that time.
The season will start on June 10th. If you are working, we recommend you ask for time off on Tuesday and Saturday to accommodate the 4 hours you will be playing in the double-headers. SCBL players play. We do not overstock our rosters to make more money. We guarantee every position-player will play at least one full game. All pitchers will get plenty of innings, but our coaches will be monitoring each pitcher’s situation to make sure the arm gets the work needed, but not overworked.
In our season, four to six clubs participate in a 22 game season focused solely on development with some of the best collegiate umpires to give it the real atmosphere you need to play your best. We will also have a Scout Day on July 8th for those SCBL Players that are looking for a new opportunity. We will have many Michigan College Coaches in attendance looking to fill their rosters with the right piece.
Were you hurt and need some at-bats or innings to get you ready for your next college season? Are you transitioning from the bullpen to the starting rotation? Does your coach want you to work on a new position? Or, are you just wanting to get better by playing at the speed of the college game? If you are, this is the perfect league for you.
We know the collegiate student-athlete lifestyle is a difficult journey, so we have customized our league to allow our players the freedom they need. We play double headers on both Tuesday and Saturday on purpose, so that each player can still work a full-time job if they choose to. We believe by getting your focused and intense baseball work done on those two days, it frees up the players to do what they want to do the other five days of the week. Social life, relaxation, time with family – there is time for it all and we will be done by August 1st, which will allow for a little rest before Fall Ball starts up.
The SCBL offers participants the chance to develop their skills while putting them to the test against some of the greatest players in the Metro Detroit area. The SCBL has long taken pride in its ability to transcend the community via the love of baseball, a shared denominator among people of all walks of life, along with some of the regions most promising up-and-coming prospects who share a common goal.
Come and get better with us!
